In honor of tonight’s finextra NY Tweetup (for those of you that don’t know, a “Tweetup” is an organized or impromptu gathering of people that use Twitter) at CONCRETE on West 37th Street (between 8th and 9th Ave) at 7pm, and ahead of tomorrow’s Social Media Days, we wanted to highlight those financial services industry tweeters who have gone the extra mile to come up with a creative username.

@HughsNews: Bloomberg TV/BGOV reporter covering politics, money, tech, defense.

@extweet: Exchange Tweet. I'm a busy trading technologist staying on top of the news.

@DerivAlert: News and information about derivatives regulation, market structure and financial reform.

@EconBizFin: Official posts from The Economist on Business, Finance and Economics.

@FTtechhub: Latest comment from the Financial Times technology writers.

@HonoreatAite: Research director & capital markets industry #analyst covering low latency #trading technology, market data, #algotrading, #HFT, #CEP, & exchange technology.

@ClusterStock: Clusterstock! Wall Street news and gossip from @BusinessInsider.

@bondscoop: Bond trader for over a quarter century, now analyzing markets and the economy.

TOP PICK - @TheStweet: The Stweet is dedicated to providing me a steady feed of relevant stock and option information. If you like it too, great.

The use of social media in financial services can be a complicated undertaking, however we applaud those firms who have been able to strike the delicate balance between a functional straight forward username and one with a little creative flair. We encourage any banking and financial services participants interested in social media to attend both events for a chance to network and learn more about the effective use of social media in your industry.
